brasileiro, nascido em 1972 na cidade de volta redonda/rio de janeiro, wagner schwartz mora entre são paulo e paris. experienciou a música, o sistema coercitivo religioso, o teatro e o samba durante seus primeiros 20 anos. mudou-se para uberlândia, minas gerais a fim de integrar-se ao curso de letras. iniciou seus projetos de dança em acordo com a literatura e suas escolas observando esteticamente as condições de operação da palavra e de seus símbolos.
integrou-se aos coletivos de criação e intercâmbio: maria do silêncio, uai q dança / palco de arte (uberlândia/mg); semáforo (são paulo); red sudamericana de danza (montevidéu); rede arte em colaboração (rio de janeiro); coletivo pessoas (berlim).
em 2001 foi selecionado pelo rumos itaú cultural no projeto “cartografia da dança” que propunha um resumo informativo sobre a situação da arte coreográfica nas diferentes regiões do país. em 2003, foi selecionado novamente pelo mesmo instituto mas, agora, com subsídio para a montagem do espetáculo “wagner ribot pina miranda xavier le schwartz transobjeto”. os nomes dos criadores contemporâneos la ribot, pina bausch, xavier le roy são apresentados como metatextos de signos codificados. wagner os mistura a carmem miranda, hélio oiticica e lygia clark e propõe sua observação através de uma outra estética, integrada ao conceito de “margem”, no processo de construção de um ser-linguagem-marginal.
foi convidado por lúcia castello branco para apresentar uma leitura performativa do livro “finita” no colóquio “maria gabriela llansol e a escrita contemporânea”, em belo horizonte e por joão barrento e maria etelvina santos no convento da arrábida, em portugal, para a escritora, em 2003.
repensando a experiência causada por “transobjeto” e a trajetória do espetáculo no brasil, latinoamérica e europa, o fórum internacional de dança de belo horizonte (fid) convida o performer para realizar a montagem de “placebo”, no projeto território minas, 2005.
é criador do transobjeto coletivo (www.transobjetocoletivo.blogspot.com) uma forma de atuar peformaticamente ligada à ideia de "antropofagia". atua na direção artística do festival "olhares sobre o corpo" (uberlândia/mg), colaborou artisticamente com o coreógrafo rachid ouramdane, em paris, nos espetáculos “cover” (2005), “des témoins ordinaires” (2009) e no vídeo-arte "eu precisava ganhar tempo/ j'essayais de gagner du temps" (2009).
continua o processo de criação do espetáculo solo “piranha”, com subsídio do programa rumos itaú cultural dança 2009/2010.

brazilian (despite his misleading name), wagner schwartz was born in 1972, in rio de janeiro. he’s being based around sao paulo and paris. he spent the first twenty years of his life in rio amid the conflicting influences of the music, the coercive religious system, the theatre and the samba. his first experiments in dance were based on literature political process and its aesthetic expressions, observing its symbols’ operation.
he joined the following creation & exchange groups: «uai q dança | palco de arte» (uberlandia); «transobjeto coletivo»; «semáforo» (sao paulo) «red sudamericana de danza» (montevideo)»; «rede – arte em colaboração» (rio de janeiro); «coletivo pessoas» (berlin).
in 2001 he was chosen by “rumos itaú cultural dança” to take part in the “cartografia da dança” (cartography of dance) project, which was a study of choreographic works from different parts of brazil. in 2003 he was chosen by the same institute, but this time with a subsidy for his production “wagner ribot pina miranda xavier le schwartz transobjeto”, in which the names of the contemporary creators la ribot, xavier le roy, pina bausch were presented as metatexts of codified signs. he blends them with carmen miranda, hélio oiticica and lygia clark and proposes his observation from another aesthetic – integrated into the concept of “margin” – that has its own subjective space.
between the dance projects, he was invited by the brazilian writer lucia castello branco to give a performatic reading of the book “finita” in the “maria gabriela llansol and contemporary writing” colloquium in sabara/ belo horizonte. after that, he is invited by the portuguese professors joão barrento and maria etelvina santos, to redo the performance for maria gabriela llansol, herself, at the arrabida convent, in setubal/ portugal (2003).
due to the process of “transobject” shows in brazil, latin america and europe, the international dance forum of belo horizonte invited the performer to produce the mise-en-scéne of “placebo”, as part of the “território minas” project, in 2005. he collaboratorated with rachid ouramdane in the shows “cover” (2005), “des témoins ordinaires” (2009) and on the video-art "j'essayais de gagner du temps" (2009).
he works at the artistic direction of the festival “regarding the body” and he will continue his research with his performance “piranha” (with the support of rumos itaú cultural dança 2009/2010).
